Crosby Returns to Full Practice

By Kim Dunning

The NHL season has been running for almost two weeks now and the big news other than Jonathan Quick’s injury trending is the fact that the Stanley Cup Champions captain is sidelined with a concussion.

After going to the Stanley Cup Finals and winning as well as playing in and winning the World Cup tournament for Canada, Crosby and the Penguins were set to begin another push for a repeat Stanley Cup, which is almost impossible. Crosby sustained a concussion in practice on October 7, 2016 and has been sidelined since then missing the first 6 games of the season.

Crosby has been wearing the yellow no contact sweater since then and has spent the majority of his time since then practicing by himself.

On Monday, Crosby returned to full contact practice. Not only did he return he was also the first player on the ice and skating on the first power play unit.

After practice Crosby was quoted as saying: “I feel good, hopefully we can build from here. It’s encouraging to be able to practice with the team and go in the right direction”. (Via Sportsnet)

This is good news for the Penguins and their fans. Going without your best offensive player and captain hurts the teams’ chemistry. This is something that the Pens have an upper hand on since they had very little turnover from their championship team last season.

Crosby is still listed as day-to-day but with his return to full practice and as of reports on Monday suffering no ill effects from the practice, his return to the Penguins on game day could just be right around the corner, which is better news that the Pens fans have heard via the social media rumor mill.

The Penguins play the Panthers on Tuesday and as of publish time of this article Crosby is a game-time decision and still listed as day-to-day on the fantasy reports.
