Looks like the San Diego chargers run defense received a much needed surge between games this week as they held the Arizona Cardinals to a measly 63 rushing yards, after giving up 288 the week before to the Titans. Phillip Rivers didn’t suit up as the Chargers failed to score an offensive touchdown. The Cardinals fared no better by only putting a field goal on the Board. Outside of Brandon Flowers Pick 6, only Field goals was given up. Kellen Clemons went 11 for 20 for 134 yards and 75.8 QB rating as defenses on both sides came to play . This was a bright spot for the Chargers, as the team came totally zapped out last week against the Titans. Opening Day Wide receiver hopeful, Dominique Williams had 4 receptions for 55 yards, including an 18 yard catch. Keenan Allen has 2 catches for 41 yards including a 28 yard pull in. The run offense played lethargic with 46 yards for the game, and Melvin Gordon had 6 rushes for 18 yards. The bolt gang offensive line only gave up 1 sack and the passing game threw for 239 yards !! Not too bad for two backups fighting to be behind Phillip Rivers.
The San Diego D, coached by John Peago , held the NFC contending Cardinals to nothing !! Only 63 yards rushing , 146 passing and two interceptions. Jerry Attaochu recorded the only sack for the Chargers, as Joseph Addae grabbed the other interception of the game. This defense was ranked 4th against the pass last season ,as they continue to build on that “no fly zone” defensive scheme. The SD defense held the Cardinals to 5 of 14 on 3rd down conversions for 35 percent for the game. If the Chargers keep this play up , they will contend for the AFC West crown. And maybe a cameo in the next Drake video
