TITANIC Sighting!!! The Chargers run defense gets drowned by the Tennessee Titans in the 27-10 rout on Saturday

With week 1 preseason games come and gone, one that stood out to me was the 27-10 rout put on the hapless Chargers by the Titans. I know, I know, preseason doesn’t count right?. But when u give up 288 yards rushing and your defense was ranked 25th in rush defense last season, this is a cause for concern. 2014 NFL Rushing champ, DeMarco Murray rushed for 93 yards on 6 carries and a 71 yard touchdown scamper. Derrick Henry, 2015 Heisman winner, rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown of his own. With this effort, this gives leverage to Joey Bosa to get his contract demands together and come in and contribute.

What was the bright spot? Melvin Gordon, the second year back, finally found pay dirt, with a 44 yard touchdown catch early in the game. Kellen Clemons, the tenured back up, threw for 96 yards on 8 of 15 passing. Kennan Allen and Phillip Rivers linked up for a 20 yard catch on a pivotal 3rd and 15 for his only reception.  Drew Kaser, the rookie punter who took the pro bowler Mike Scifres spot, had 5 punts for a 52.8 average with a long of 62.

The San Diego Chargers were dominated in all aspects of the game except passing yards which was 215 to 149, and time of possession where they had an 84 second advantage. With the regular season fast approaching, the San Diego Chargers will need to fix their drowning run defense, or they will have the same fate as Leonardo DiCaprio did and could very well find themselves at the bottom of the AFC West.
